IQTools

IQTools is a support application for data cleaning and reporting. Originally developed to meet the data cleaning and reporting needs of AIDSRelief hospitals using access databases, this tool has been extended to work in conjunction with the MSH ARV Dispensing Software and IQCare. This tool provides extensive data cleaning routines and facility reports

IQTools was originally developed to help sites identify data inconsistencies so that accurate reports can be produced. There are over 30 data cleaning queries which highlight potential issues with dates, missed data, out of reasonable range data, etc. These were essential for the initial Access databases that did not contain field level validation to prevent such errors.

IQTools was extended to provide the data cleaning and data mapping for the migration to IQCare, including drug and lab mapping, data standardization and boundary checking. IQTools can easily be modified to prepare databases for migration from existing access based software to other patient management systems other than IQCare

IQTools also provides a wide variety of patient and facility reports as well as the PEPFAR Track 1.0 facility-based quarterly report when connected to pre-set data sources. These reports allow the clinics to mine the data and see trends in their patient populations. With IQTools, clinics regularly track indicators for program outputs and outcomes. Some of these indicators include: ARV pickup, cohort mortality, WAB at 6, 12, and 24 months, patients with missing CD4, # lab tests, cotrimoxazole use, and TB status. This kind of analysis has lead to the implementation of continuous quality improvement strategies, closing the loop between data capture and program implementation.
